Meghan Markle has been photographed several times this month and last, for a variety of public appearances. From walking the red carpet in a jaw-dropping red satin ballgown, to most recently appearing on Ellen where she spoke about her and Prince Harry’s children Archie and Lilibet. Asides from carefully curating her outfits, Meghan loves to accessorise with jewellery. Over the past couple of months, the Duchess of Sussex has been sporting a different diamond band on her wedding ring finger. Express.co.uk spoke to leading diamond expert at Steven Stone jewellers, Maxwell Stone, about the piece.
Meghan was given a gorgeous three-diamond engagement ring when Prince Harry proposed back in 2017.
It was designed by Harry himself and featured a central diamond, sourced from the couple’s special place Botswana, and is surrounded by two smaller diamonds from Diana, Princess of Wales’ jewellery collection.
With five carats in total, it is estimated to have cost £135,000 at the time.
However, when Meghan was pregnant with Archie, the ring was redesigned.
Originally set on a gold band, the updated version sees a simple and classic diamond band instead.
It is believed to have been changed to match the eternity band Harry bought Meghan as a first anniversary present.
Until recently, Meghan wor eher engagement ring, the matching diamond eternity band and her gold wedding band all together on her fourth finger.
Now it seems, the Duchess of Sussex has replaced her diamond eternity band with an altogether different ring – which she has previously worn on her right hand.
Back in September, Meghan and Harry visited New York City for various public appearances.
The first visit was at the One World Observatory, followed by a short stop-off at a school in Harlem, then to the Global Citizen Live festival where they delivered a speech.
On all occasions, Meghan’s left hand and the jewellery adorning her ring finger, was photographed.
She had chosen to pair her engagement ring and wedding bang with a different diamond band that had a flower design.
This ring is not new to Meghan’s collection, she wore it when visiting Edinburgh in February, 2018.
However, instead of it being on her left hand, it was place on her right hand, and middle finger.
Speaking about the design of the ring, Maxwell said: “This ring features a selection of 0.10 carat centre diamonds, each one surrounded by nine smaller stones, to create this beautiful flower design.
“Overall, the ring features 1.5 carats of diamonds overall and is likely to be worth around £3,500 to £4,000.
“Meghan switched the ring between her third finger and her wedding finger, and as there is only usually half a size in difference between these fingers, she may not have had the ring resized.
He added: “However, there’s the possibility she did have the ring made larger, in order to make it the perfect fit.”
It is not known whether this diamond flower band replaces her eternity ring, or for the few occasions she decided to wear it for a change.
There is also the possibility her eternity ring could be in the jewellers, having Lilibet’s birthstone added.
Express.co.uk previously reported how Meghan’s eternity ring had hers, Harry’s and Archie’s gemstones incorporated into the design.
