Sean Bean found fame for his gritty roles including as Boromir in Lord of the Rings and Ned Stark from Game of Thrones.

The actor, 62, has been floored with compliments from his recent role in the BBC three-part series Time after he made his name on both the big and small screen through his impressive roles.

However, the Yorkshire-born lad prefers to lead a much quieter life online and has successfully kept his private life out of the media.

OK! has taken a look back through the fan favourite's long-standing career and his relationship outside of his roles on TV.

Sean was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire to parents Rita Tuckwood and Brian Bean in 1959.

Prior to his acting career, the star first sought work at his father’s welding firm and even looked into a career as a professional footballer for his beloved team Sheffield United before he pursued a career in the Hollywood industry.

The TV star first showed his romantic side when he tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Debra James on 11 April 1981 at the age of 21.

The pair first met when they attended the same secondary school together in Yorkshire, but after seven years, the couple called it quits in 1988.

But that didn’t stop him from finding love again, as the hopeless romantic soon found love in the eyes of Melanie Hill, who he met at RADA during his seven-term course in 1981.

The couple studied alongside each other and went on to tie the knot in 1990 and have two beautiful daughters together, Lorna, 33, and Molly, 29.

But as Sean’s career began to take off, the couple called time on their relationship and settled a divorce in August 1997. The pair now share four grandchildren together.

Melanie went on to marry writer and TV producer Jimmy Daly, and now portrays the role of Cathy Matthews in the ITV soap Coronation Street.

Fans of the cobbles will remember the star who first joined the long-form soap in 2015 as the love interest for Roy Cropper.

Sean was hit by cupid’s arrow once again that year, after he met Abigail Cruttenden during the filming of Sharpe.

The love birds tied the knot three months after his divorce was finalised in 1997 with Cathy Matthews and welcomed a baby girl, Evie, 27, in 1998.

But it wasn’t meant to be and the new parents went their separate ways in July 2000.

Abigail is best known for her role in Lee Mack’s successful sitcom Not Going Out when she joined the show in its seventh series in 2014 and has continued to be a part of the cast ever since.

In 2006, the Northern lad began dating fellow actress Georgina Sutcliffe after they met when she managed the bar at the West End theatre where he played the role of Macbeth.

The couple made things official when they married at Marylebone register office in February 2008.

However, the pair suffered a rocky relationship, as it was reported Georgina left him later that year before they got back together again.

But the couple finally separated in 2010 over claims of physical abuse in the household.

The star married for the fifth time to Ashley Moore who he wed in June 2017 in Dorset.

And despite his checked past with love, the star said he still believes in love in an interview in 2011.

He said: “Of course I believe in love despite four divorces. There is nobody who doesn’t believe in love.”
