Huge police operation is underway in woodland beauty spot to find missing 16-year-old who disappeared from her home at 5am yesterday

  • Rawan Hussain was last seen at her house in Chapel Allerton at around 5am 
  • She was reported missing six hours after she disappeared on Sunday in Leeds 
  • The teenager is described as an Asian female of medium build with curly hair 

A huge police operation is underway at a beauty spot in Leeds as police search for a missing 16-year-old girl.

Rawan Hussain was last seen at her house in Chapel Allerton, in the north-east of the city, at around 5am yesterday.

She was reported missing to West Yorkshire Police around six hours after she disappeared on Sunday.

Police officers are currently combing Gledhow Valley Woods as part of a search for the teenager.

Paramedics, firefighters, and Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team have all joined police officers at the scene.

Rawan is described an Asian female of medium build with curly dark brown hair, and may be wearing a head scarf, black coat and Nike trainers.

In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: ‘Police are currently searching a scene in Gledhow Valley Woods in Leeds in connection with missing teenager Rawan Hussain.

‘Rawan, aged 16, from Chapel Allerton, was reported missing at 1pm yesterday after last being seen at her home at about 5am that day.

‘Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who has seen her or who has any information that could assist in tracing her.’
